Picnics in the Park - Leila and Harper {Songs Kate Sang Photography}

The Picnic in the Park Sessions were amazing!

Spending time with friends, photographing children and a beautiful day at the park.  Who could ask for more?!

A sweet friend from work brought her daughters.  

Aren't they beautiful?!  Harper reminds me so much of Julia. 

Lauren, thank you for allowing me the honor of photographing your daughters.  

They are beautiful!

And more than that ~ thank you for supporting my dreams.

1310 am Celebration {Songs Kate Sang Photography}

St. Bernard's held a celebration for 1310 AM, honoring one year of Catholic radio in Phoenix.

And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these.  Matthew 6:28-29

Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.  Matthew 6:34

San Juan Capistrano {Mission}

While the kids were practicing, Brian and I wandered down the street just to take a quiet walk together.  

Do you know what we found?!

Father Junipero Serra, established Mission San Juan Capistrano on November 1, 1776, over 230 years ago.  The story begins in 1775, when Mission San Juan Capistrano was first founded by Father Lasuen, on October 19th. But just a few weeks after the party of padres and soldiers arrived, they received word of the revolt occurring in San Diego. The founding padres, and soldiers decided to leave San Juan Capistrano, and go back to San Diego to help there. Once things had settled in San Diego, Father Serra personally led a party to re-found Mission San Juan Capistrano on All Saint’s Day, November 1, 1776.

It was a lovely suprise for a lovely day.

We didn't talk much.  Brian just let me wander and take pictures.

Some days, smiles and glances from a distance are the most romantic language.

My Little Brother {Songs Kate Sang Photography}

Singer, Song Writer, Guitar Player Extraordinaire, Friend, Board Game Opponent, Brand New Blog Community Member, Uncle, Son, Brother...

I love him so very much.

He is my brother and my friend.

My favorite memory is being allowed to ride our bicycles down to our secret fort across the stream.

We would ride past Haggard Farm, past Harrington Elementary School,  over to the bike trail.  Instead of turning left and following the path, we would climb over the wooden fence and turn right.  We had a secret fort that consisted of a tree and a blue tarp on the other side of the stream and we would roll our pants up so that we would never get caught and wade over.  

For years, I would go back to that tree and the tarp was still there.

Last time I went, they had extended the bike trail and the tarp was gone.  

I was a little sad knowing that no more dynamic duos would be able to benefit from our fort creation skills.

But I smile thinking of those summer bike rides, the horses and sheep we would pass and the cold, cold water.  

Back then, we never had deep, long discussions, but we had each other.  He was always with me and I never was lonely growing up.  He was my buddy.

My friend, Chris, put this video together from the building dedication from St. Bernard of Clairvaux building dedication.  I had the honor of photographing the day.

I love it!  

I think it captures the sweetness of that day perfectly.
