Would you believe Riley has been with us, in our home, for five months?!
We are nearing the finish line for the process. It feels like it should be done already, but I know we are so blessed. There are many people on similar journeys that would think five months as a dream. I am trying to keep perspective.
Our homestudy followup is Tuesday morning. What does this mean? This means our transition specialist will come out and spend some time with the family, just observing. I have a list of questions for her. I know that the list will grow between now and Tuesday. I feel like I should warn her or at least prepare a full pot of coffee for her.
This past week, I learned that it will look more like the end of the year for the adoption to be finalized in the courts. Everything is fine, we are just making sure all of the paperwork is seamless so that there are no concerns down the road.
The last questions we received are from those asking what our fees and costs have been so far.
We are anticipating a final cost of $11,000. The fees so far are $8,806.20.
This includes the following:
- Legal Fees
- Home Study
- Application Fee
- Fingerprints
- Temporary Custody Application
- Adoption Transition Consultations
Yes, if you have any questions, you can always email me. I try to answer them each month in the update. I don't mind at all.
And YOU have raised $4,400! Thank you! Yes, we are still fundraising. All the details can be found here : {Click here}
Thank you so much for the prayers. Prayers specifically for his continued transition would be very much appreciated.
Sometimes I secretly wonder if God moved this plan into action so quickly because He knew my small and fearful heart would hesitate, waiting too long to take another step.
I'm so thankful that He placed a situation in front of Brian and I that we could not glance past.
I'm so thankful that Karen shared his story with us - a story that I cannot unknow.
I'm so thankful that He planted Riley's name in our hearts 14 years ago.
With much love,
Kate
